Anything worthwhile certainly takes time. As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day and the same will be true for the body or level of health and fitness you desire too. It’s understandable that sometimes we find ourselves feeling discouraged if things are taking too long, but so long as we keep the end goal in mind, we can maintain the endurance needed to succeed. We have to think of our fitness journey as a math equation. Just as two plus two will always equal four, we also have to realize that dedicated time plus dedicated effort will equal results.
Regular Check-Ins
One of the best ways to make sure each day takes us closer to our goal is to schedule regular check ins with a personal trainer. These check ins would be different from your other sessions, but they would be just as important. During these special sessions you would take all your measurements, discuss how you’re feeling about the work outs, review any past injuries, and share if there is anything you would like to change or adapt. These check ins are not only vital in tracking the overall trajectory of your growing strength and improved fitness, but they are also important opportunities to strengthen the relationship with your trainer to ensure the sessions ahead are even better than the ones that came before.
Positive Thinking
The final piece of the puzzle to mastering your endurance is realizing that you will have good days and bad days on the path to your fitness destination. The key is to not let minor setbacks discourage you along the way. Always be gentle with yourself, and take each day as it comes. Keep your eyes fixed on the prize and remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint.
